successfully completed her education as a patent paralegal in 2011. Since then, she has gained professional experience in both - law firms and industry. During her work at two renowned law firms, she was in charge of the proceedings for all types of IP rights and was responsible for incoming mail and noting deadlines. There, she also gained experience in training young colleagues, whom she supported with practical and technical knowledge in addition to vocational school lessons as well as a specially organised trainee class, thus preparing them for the final exams in the best possible way. Since 2018, Eva-Maria is working in the patent department of Siemens AG in Munich. She passed the first EPAC exam in 2022.

Paula has attended the Universidad Complutense in Madrid (Spain) where she obtained a bachelor degree in History. In the IP world she has obtained the Patent Administration certification with the CIPA and later completed a Master in Intellectual Property with Universidad de Barcelona (Spain). She has more than 10 years of experience in patent formalities, working in either in-house department as well as law firms, in Spain and The Netherlands. Her current duties diversify between the supervision due diligence procedures, cross checking responsibilities and management of the Formalities Team. She passed the first EPAC exam in 2022.

Two successful EPAC 2022 participants will pass on their tips and tricks so that attendees for the EPAC will be well prepared. Integral part of the course is a real-time mock.
In July 2022, the European Patent Office introduced a new certification scheme for paralegals, patent administrators and formalities officers: the European patent administration certificate, or EPAC. Its idea is to certify the successful candidates can deal independently and autonomously with the procedures around EP and PCT applications before the EPO.
The first exam was held in December 2022. 157 candidates passed it, that means only 35% of those enrolled.
Our two speakers belong the group of the successful candidates of 2022. Thus, they are best prepared to guide future candidates through the exam. The speakers will go through the questions of the last mock examination and of the EPAC 2022 and discuss with the attendees lessons learned from the last mock examination and the last exam.
An important part of the EPAC exam pre course is a mock exam where attendees will have the opportunity to sit the exam under time pressure before October, followed by a discussion on the results. Attendees will receive a checklist at the end of the course and will be well prepared for the EPAC 2023.
