This live webcast provides you regularly with the detailed presentation of the EPO's Boards of Appeal on computer-implemented inventions and their impact on your prosecution practice.

The contents of your webcast
  • Relevant case-law: Best of from the different Boards of Appeal
  • Disputed case-law: How to assess diverging decisions
  • Detailed presentation of the cases and their impact on your prosecution practice
  • Written summaries of the relevant decisions
  • Access to recordings of the live sessions
The objectives of your webcast
The EPO's Boards of Appeals case-law on computer-implemented inventions was relatively harmonised until the early 2000s as almost all clear appeal cases went to one Board of Appeal. Since then, the number of applications and the growth of CII in many traditional subject areas has increased, involving more Boards of Appeal and thus leading to partly diverging decisions, especially on technicality with regards to cross-disciplinary features.

Our digital patents experts inform you in 90 minutes live internet broadcasts six times a year in detail about the latest relevant decisions of the EPO Boards of Appeal on computer-implemented inventions. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss cases directly with the speakers during the live webcast. Written summaries of the relevant decisions can be downloaded in advance. If you are prevented from attending the live event, then you can access the recording online afterwards.
