Originally from the UK, Pete has worked in the Netherlands for more than 20 years. After 5 years in-house at ASML, he worked for 10 years at the private practice DeltaPatents as partner, attorney and tutor in European and PCT law. As partner, he was responsible for their formalities group. He also was one of the original tutors training NL patent administrators, and passed the first exam in 2011 to become a Certified Formalities Officer (NL). He also passed the first EPAC exam in 2022. In 2017 he started his own firm, Fireball Patents, providing costeffective patent services to SME's and startups. He handles his own formalities before the NL, EP and IB offices. He is also the author of the PCT reference PCT.App, available as a fully customisable reference in IP appify's online platform, or as a printed book.

Two successful EPAC 2022 participants will pass on their tips and tricks so that attendees for the EPAC will be well prepared. Integral part of the course is a real-time mock.
In July 2022, the European Patent Office introduced a new certification for paralegals, patent administrators and formalities officers: the European patent administration certificate, or EPAC. Its purpose is to certify that successful candidates can deal independently and autonomously with the procedures around EP and PCT applications before the EPO. The first exam was held in Dec. 2022, with 157 candidates passing for 35% pass rate. For the second exam in Oct. 2023, only 85 candidates passed. The third exam will be held on 10
Oct. 2024. Our speaker belongs to the group of the successful candidates of 2022. Thus, he is best prepared to guide future candidates through the exam.
The speaker will go through selected questions from the last examinations of the EPAC 2022 and 2023, and discuss with the attendees tips and tricks for answering during the exam. An important part of the EPAC exam prep course is our unique mock exam, where attendees will sit exam-like questions prepared by the tutor. Our mock exam will be given under exam time pressure, followed by a discussion of the
results. Attendees will receive a checklist at the end of the course and will be well prepared for the EPAC 2024. As the EPO writes in the EPAC FAQ: "How you prepare for the EPAC exam is up to you." Then choose the EPAC Exam Prep and Mock!
